- California’s DROP platform opened to consumers on January 1, 2026. It’s a single form that sends a deletion request to every registered data broker. Starting August 1, 2026, those brokers have to process the requests and check the list again at least every 45 days.
- Age-verification data: Several state age-verification laws now stop verifiers from keeping your ID after the check. Many verification providers say they discard images right after confirming your age, so the cam site itself never stores your ID.
Even if you don’t live in one of those states, many platforms now offer the same deletion process to every user because it’s easier than running separate rules by state.
